The intelligence card is a powerful tool that can significantly improve the quality of learning and increase the efficiency of memorizing information. In this post, we will look at how using an intelligence card can help students and schoolchildren. Mind map examples in training.

Mind map is a method that allows a person to structure complex information using associative diagrams and diagrams. This concept was invented in 1974 by the British psychologist Tony Buzan. Having studied human thinking for many years, he tried to transfer information to paper in the same way that brain cells transmit information to neurons. It turned out to be a kind of tree with many branches.

“Mindmap” – advantages of using an intelligence card in training

  • Better memorization of information. Using visual elements and colors helps to remember information more effectively than just reading a textbook or notes.
  • More efficient use of time. Intelligence cards can help organize information into a more logical and consistent chain, which will allow you to effectively use your time while studying and preparing for exams.
  • Simplifies the understanding of complex topics. The use of intelligence cards helps schoolchildren and students to memorize complex material and build logical connections.

Examples of using mind maps reception. Stages of creating an mind map

1. We use a blackboard, a sheet of paper, a graphic editor of a tablet or computer, colored pencils, pens, markers, stickers, brake lights. Create an intelligence map. We place the concept under study in the central circle (they enter a topic, a word, a person, an object, a system, a phenomenon).

2. From it we draw divergent rays (or branches) of different colors, longer, shorter, thicker, thinner. They are inscribed with words — associations caused by the parent concept. That is, we add branches corresponding to key concepts related to the topic.

3. Draw branches of the second order, on which associations belonging to branches of the first level are placed.

4. To make an intelligence map, you can and should draw pictures, use stickers. Add images, colors, symbols and keywords to make your mind map more memorable and easy to read.

5. Semantic blocks (branches forming trees) are recommended to be outlined in circles, frames of different colors.

6. Check the intelligence card. Make sure that all the key concepts and the connections between them are clearly represented.

7. Use the intelligence card. Review the intelligence card before the exam to refresh your memory of key concepts and help you navigate through the study material.

There is no exact version of what an intelligence map should look like. You can approach its compilation creatively, using multi-colored felt-tip pens, printed or cut-out images and stickers. Or, on the contrary, to make a mental map minimalistic: clear lines and nothing superfluous.

Visualization of the mind maps

Mind map should meet the principles of clarity (multicolored lines, pictures, signals) and completeness (the thought should be revealed from all sides). As a result, you should get a mock-up of a neuron of the human brain responsible for processing information.

Examples of using the mind maps technique in training

The intelligence of the map in the classroom. When working with text material, the main idea of the text is placed in the center. From her rays diverge storylines that are overgrown with facts, images, characters, mood. In this way, the information presented is remembered faster.

The system of intelligence maps by geography. For example, when studying the topic “Hydrosphere” in a geography lesson, concepts such as the world ocean (the second—order rays will be the names of oceans), surface waters (associations — irrigation, watering) and groundwater (rays – soil, artesian, ground) will become rays.

Mind map for project planning. Development of a scientific project. The topic that needs to be disclosed is placed in the center. The associations diverge like rays, which are subsequently formulated into research tasks.

When studying the question, mental images — associations are drawn. Less time is spent on repeating what has been studied, since the reproduction of the material becomes more conscious and meaningful.

It is also good to use smart cards in preparation for retelling the text.
