Public universities in the Czech Republic are created by a special law. Competence in relation to them in accordance with Act No. 111/1998 Coll. “On Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments to Other Laws” is carried out by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Secondly, in the Czech Republic there is – Státní – literally “State”. In general, from the point of view of the Czech Republic, there are only 2 public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. List of Czech Universities Státní:

Third – Zahraniční – Foreign higher education institution in the Czech Republic (or branch), operating in the territory of the Czech Republic, but not accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, but accredited in “another country”. There are only 9 of them.

4. Soukromá – 39 private universities in the Czech Republic, which are accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education. Basically, this is “business education”: a little law, a little finance, a little politics, a little economics. There are really few institutions that train specialists in those areas where state universities in the Czech Republic cannot cope with the influx of people who want to study in the Czech Republic.
