How to cook a classic Czech potato salad for Christmas
The classic Czech potato salad is not much different from the usual Olivier with chicken in the French manner. But one thing is for sure — there are many more varieties of potato salad than you can imagine at first glance. You can add lingonberries, apples or pears, radishes and much more to it. Below is a recipe for a classic Czech potato salad, which everyone in the Czech Republic cooks for Christmas.
Often this salad can be found in numerous Czech restaurants and cafes, where it is served with Czech grilled cheese or with pork / chicken steak.
Ingredients of Czech potato salad
600 g potatoes
200 g of root vegetables (carrots, celery, parsley)
2 pickled cucumbers
2 boiled eggs
4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
1 spoonful of mustard
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
salt, pepper, pickle from cucumbers
Preparation Czech potato salad for Christmas
Boil potatoes, carrots and celery in lightly salted water. Cool it down. Cut everything into cubes (about 1 x 1 cm in size).
Finely chop the eggs and cucumbers.
Cover with foil, put it in the refrigerator and let it brew.
Potato bacon is ready! Enjoy your meal!
Potato salad is usually served with carp fried in breadcrumbs. Option for vegetarians: instead of carp — fried cheese Eidam, Hermelín.
